While investigating the village near Tonika, Kabuto confronts Naruto. An epic battle erupts as Kabuto uses the forbidden Reanimation Jutsu against Naruto. In the meantime, Dokku and the five survivors lie low at the village. With some side story filler going on here that takes us back to the past a bit, the Power storyline for Naruto: Shippuden proves that you can bring your A game material to the filler table. While it’s exactly top tier stuff and this year has felt like one long drawn out piece of filler, there’s a certain competence and style to what we got before with Kabuto showing up at Tonika and having a number of resurrected shinobi there for his use. The action flowed well, the character designs were good and the animation was pretty strong considering how filler material usually goes. Viewing this as a movie broken into smaller pieces continues to be the best way to view the whole endeavor.

Ogami is given his next assignment by the Eden council. Toki picks up Sakura to walk to school, claiming that he is Ogami’s friend. Ogami catches up, and starts fighting with Toki, but Sakura stops them both. Toki tours Sakura and Ogami’s school. With the show being a bit all over the place in away when it comes to the first three episodes as it unfolded with the story, there have been some intriguing moments. This episode starts things off right with a little background that definitely helps as we learn that Ogami was the 6th of the Code: Breakers brought into service and one of the better ones at that. But as we see, he’s the kind of person who is doing the job because it needs to be done and refuses to be a “kept dog” for this mysterious group that runs the show. His coldness has been a big part of the show so far, something that I’ve enjoyed in a lead character, and it’s made clear that he’s been like that from the start of being a Code: Breaker.
Luffy, Zoro and Sanji retrieve the stolen treasure. More trouble presents itself on the way back to the palace, however, as they meet Pekoms and Baron Tamago, agents of Big Mam, one of the Four Emperors of the New World! Big Mam’s crew has come to collect her bounty, but when the Fish-Man Island is unable to pay, Luffy and the Straw Hats again find themselves in a mess! With the show having dealt with the epilogue phase to things having been dealt with, there’s a bit of a push in a new direction here that completely got Nami’s attention. With so many valuable treasures having been looted, she’s excited that Neptune has authorized them to go and get them but even more so because he doesn’t care if they come back or not since he just wants it dealt with. And the Straw Hats have certainly earned a reward for their services in his eyes. Nami’s excitement was one of the best things about it and Luffy has completely gotten into the fun of it all as well. The sheer amount of treasure found is almost comical, but mostly because Luffy just sees it as a way of getting more food to buy and eat.Video by Anmi
Still coping with the loss of her loved ones, Tsunade indulges in gambling and drinking. Around the same time, the Raikage Ay and his men are on a mission to steal a scroll from a certain village. With Tsunade having convinced the Raikage to back her and more importantly to back Naruto when it comes to the war, that now has them all working together. It’s not exactly a happy and friendly thing at the moment though, but the Raikage has put his faith in her when it comes to what she believes and has combined that with what Killer Bee has brought to the table after their own convoluted and complicated past. Bringing these things together has definitely helped to paint a better picture of Naruto for Raikage, but there’s still that big picture unease that he has to events that are going on. With Naruto also making it clear his promises to Tsunade, it helps to reinforce just why he’s going to prove to her what he’s going to do.
Ogami and Sakura walk to school together, so that they can keep a mutual eye on each other. Not everyone is happy with the attention Sakura is paying Ogami, however. Later, Sakura accompanies Ogami to one of his jobs, and is surprised by what she sees. With a kind of mild understanding between Sakura and Ogami at this point after the couple of reveals that we’ve had, some that Sakura has gotten while others are hidden from her, the two have settled into a strange routine. He’s obviously keeping an eye on her though making some patently transparent comments about it. She’s not exactly happy with it, but the nd result is that she’s accepting it since she knows it’s the kind of situation that she can’t exactly get out of. Of course, everyone else just takes it that the two are now an item and that sets up all kinds of excitement, gossip and even a few admirers of Sakura to try and step in and stop it all from happening.
"The Crew Is Surprised! The New Marine Fleet Admiral!"
While the Straw Hats were undergoing their intensive training, major
upheavals on the land have led to shocking changes in the Navy! Jimbei
shares the story while elsewhere in the palace, a loose end remains that
may spell doom for Shirahoshi! With the Straw Hats having won victory over Hordy and saved the day, the
majority of the previous episode was a mix of epilogue material and
celebration. The celebration side is actually just a touch annoying to
me since it’s made all the more drawn out since they have Brook on board
with his singing and musical ability, so they provide more montage
scenes for a lot of it. On the flip side, we got some very great little
teases from Robin and Neptune as we learn that Shirahoshi has the
potential to become the new Poseidon, which while problematic for a
variety of reasons, does offer some potential help for Luffy down the
line if the relationship between the two is maintained and he can count
on her as a highly valued friend.
A group of Allied Shinobi, including Omoi and Maki of the Sand, battle against several reanimated enemies. Maki recognizes one of them as Pakura, her former master who was a Sand Village hero. After a decent action filled episode involving Lee, Sai and Kakashi dealing with one of the enemy in Jirin, this episode shifts us to a different group of the Allied Shinobi forces. This time around, we get to see how some of those from the Village of Sand are dealing with the battle at hand with Omoi and Maki as the principle characters. What they’re dealing with is no different than things we’ve seen before as an array of reanimated characters are brought to the forefront to fight against the Allied Forces and there’s that risk of knowing someone in the group. While most of what we tend to see are those that are just the blank white skinned reanimated folks, the Akatsuki know their advantage is to sow confusion by bringing in those from the dead that the Forces actually know.
As the whole Fishman Island celebrates the capture and defeat of Hody Jones and the New Fishman Pirates by the Straw Hat Pirates, who make their own plans to leave Fishman Island soon while Jinbe reluctantly tells Luffy that he cannot join his crew at the moment but he will in the future when he is finished his own tasks and obligations. They are all soon called to celebrate their victory at the Ryugu Palace with the banquet that was originally planned.
As the party begins to wind down, Robin asks and discusses a troubling and dangerous secret with King Neptune surrounding his daughter, Shirahoshi, the ship Noah, and the mysterious Joy Boy. Robin reveals the location of the ancient weapon from Skypiea she read two years ago being on Fishman Island and that Poseidon is on the island and deduces that the Mermaid Princess during the Void Century name was Poseidon and discovers that Shirahoshi is the ancient weapon Poseidon now.

Kakashi assigns Sai to take over for the Sealing Corps, who are recovering from sealing the reanimated shinobi. But Sai is not sure if he can handle the responsibility. Soon afterwards, the Third Company is attacked by Jinin Akebino. With some good return to form in the previous episode that gave us time exploring the past for the Raikage and Killer Bee, material that really made me actually like both of them a lot more, Naruto: Shippuden shifts gears away from its starring character once again to deal with other stories in the war. Which I don’t mind to some degree, but we haven’t had much Naruto for a good chunk of these episodes so far, so getting a little face time with him and some action was definitely appreciated. Even if it did veer away a good deal and worked more towards the problems that exist between Bee and his brother. Fleshing that out will likely have more of an impact in the future.
Our heroine, to be burned from the last episode, seemed to had just a
nightmare but although everything that was happened was real. She woke
up on her bed, still alive and in one piece, breathing and trying to
remember what happened. Trying to fix her thoughts, she went to school
and there, meet Ogami, acting normally – or rather acting just like the
way he did before. With pure curiosity and the mission to stop Ogami from killing more
people like what he did before, she told him that she will follow him
everywhere and stop him from killing people.
